Location:

In the middle of the Montes de Málaga, Axarquía region and the city of Málaga we can find the little village of Olías.
To arrive to this village it is necessary to drive up along a road with a lot of curves from El Palo neighbourhood, in Málaga city.

Two kilometres away from Olías and heading towards Comares, we can find the Lagar del Romerillo, a group of buildings and plots of land belonging to a property devoted to the grape production and wine elaboration of Málaga vintages from the beginning of the 19th century. Here we find the facilities of the Bodega Antigua Casa de Guardia; there is a small way coming from the road, bordered by big gum trees, that leads to the cellar and the farm house.

Facilities:

Although it is a recently created building, the cellar has a working history of more than 160 years without stop, it being the oldest cellar in Málaga. The building strictly respects the inherited tradition, and, in its architectural features, it can be seen an attempt of recovering the connection between habitat and man, the foundations of the winemaking culture.

Beside the cellar there is the press room, a strong construction with a floor made of stone slabs, specially prepared for the workers not to slip on it while they are pressing the grapes. A stone bank, 50 centimetres high from the floor of the press room, surrounds it, not letting the grapes or the must pour out.

To make up a complete rural picture, there is a farm house which at the beginning had the functions of cellar, press room and home for the workers, and that now has become the perfect place to start a visit and get a personal impression of the history of the wines of Málaga through the history of the Bodega Antigua Casa de Guardia.
